The 43rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Cancelled but some Main Street Food & Beverage Establishments open for business.
The 43rd annual Blue Springs “Shortest and Smallest” St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world will be held on Main Street in downtown Blue Springs at 9 a.m. Tuesday March 17th. The parade route begins at 1112 W. Main and goes across the street to 1123 W. Main. It measures 66 feet and lasts about 30 seconds.
All are welcome for pre-parade festivities of coffee, refreshments, and conversation beginning at 8am in the lobby of America’s Community Bank at 1100 Main Street. Several Main Street food and beverage establishments will open at 8am on parade day. Enjoy breakfast pizza and drink specials all day.
The Parade will begin in front of the former Lowe Drug Store, 1112 W. Main beginning at 9 am. It will then proceed across the street to “The Keg”, Blue Springs’ oldest tavern.
This historic Worlds Shortest and Smallest St. Patrick’s Day Parade was officially measured at 66 feet by former City Engineer, Oliver DeGrate. Plaques on Main Street between 11th and 12th streets mark the beginning and ending points.
This year’s Honorary Grand Marshall is Richard Wood, retired Blue Springs teacher and coach. Official ‘Paraders’ this year and every year are Pat Meyer and Jim Wallace, one of which will carry the traditional Ice Cream ‘Float’.
