A COMMISSIONED PUBLIC ART EXHIBIT IN DOWNTOWN BLUE SPRINGS, MO
Blue Springs Downtown Alive! is proud to have sponsored the Cats on Main public art project. This effort is similar to the “Cow Parade” and the more recent “Parade of Hearts” in Kanas City. We have commissioned 8 large decorated “cats” that are installed on each side of Main Street (from 15th Street to 7 Highway) to represent our two public high schools – one side with 4 Jaguars, the other side with 4 Wildcats. The Cats on Main project complements our existing public art located within the Downtown District, and has provided another important connection between Downtown, the Blue Springs School District and the community. The Cats have brought residents and visitors to the district to view the art and help promote visibility and walkability in Downtown Blue Springs. Just like the Kanas City public art displays, we will culminate the project with a public auction. Money raised from the auction will support the continued growth and development of downtown Blue Springs.
