This committee works to encourage appropriate aesthetics in the downtown, such as through appropriate building rehabs, in-fill design and downtown design unification. It capitalizes on downtown assets, such as historic buildings and creates an inviting atmosphere through window displays, parking areas, signage, sidewalks, streetlights and landscaping.
Current Projects Include:
- Downtown Gateway Arch
- Wayfinding Signs & Banners
- Design Standards
- Community Development Block Grant façade projects
- Little Free Libraries
- Sidewalk beautification, including flowers and flower pots
- American Flags on Main Street
ECONOMIC VITALITY TEAM
Chair – Lyle Shaver
Regular Meeting Date: 3rd Thursday of each Month at 3pm at Pizza Shoppe
Next meeting is July 20!
This committee works to identify new market opportunities for the downtown, find new uses for historic commercial buildings, and stimulate investment in property. It also assists with business expansion, retention and recruitment.
Projects and Events Include:
- Downtown Façade Grant Program
- Chapter 353 Tax Abatement Program
- Business Development & Recruitment Strategy
ORGANIZATION TEAM
Chair – Cindy Miller
Regular Meeting Date: 1st Tuesday of every other Month, 8:15 am at Downtown Alive! office. Meeting months are February, April, June, August, October, December.
This committee gets everyone working toward the same goal. It builds consensus and cooperation among the groups that have an important stake in the downtown. It also works to recruit volunteers, gives input on organizational structure and helps to build strong committees.

- Development of Annual Goals and Objectives
- Fundraising Strategies
- Volunteer Program
PROMOTIONS TEAM

Regular Meeting Date: 2nd Monday of each Month at 3pm at Downtown Alive! Office
This committee sells the image of Downtown Blue Springs by marketing the unique characteristics of downtown to shoppers, investors, new businesses and visitors. Our strategy is to promote a positive image through advertising, retail promotion activities, special events, marketing campaigns and bringing more people downtown, which all is carried out by the committee and other volunteers.

- Second Saturdays Car Cruise
